Description
The project involved the construction of a 225 kV transmission line of approximate length 188 km from Bolgatanga in Ghana to Ouagadougou in Burkina, with associated substations.
Objective
To interconnect the power systems of Ghana and Burkina for power exchanges between these countries and Ghana and beyond.
Project Status
The project was completed and energized in June 2018 and the formal inauguration was held on October 5, 2018 in the presence of the Heads of State of the countries. The preparation of the project was supported by NEPAD-IPPF, AFD-DBSA and USAID as well as the concerned utilities. The implementation of the project was financed by AFD, EIB, WB and the beneficiary utilities. The project was commissioned in 2018.
