330 kV Nigeria - Benin Interconnection Reinforcement Project

Transmission
Description
The project envisions the construction of a 330 kV double circuit high voltage transmission line of approximate length 130 km, with associated substations, that shall emanate from Ajengule (Nigeria) to Sakete (Benin) through Onigbolo (Benin).
Objective
To augment transmission capacity for power exchange between Nigeria and Togo / Benin as well as beyond.
Project Status
The pre-investment studies for the project that were funded by NEPAD-IPPF, GIZ and USAID are almost completed and mobilization of financing for project implementation has commenced. The estimated cost of the project is EUR 115.1 million and several WAPP Partners have already expressed their keen interest to participate in the project's financing. Formal Requests for Financing have already been received by the Partners from some of the countries and the respective project appraisals have commenced. The project is envisioned to be commissioned in 2025.
