Description
The project envisages the construction of a 225 kV high voltage transmission line of approximate length 1,303 km, with associated substations, that shall emanate from Man (Côte d’Ivoire) to Linsan (Guinea) through Monrovia (Liberia) and Bumbuna (Sierra Leone) among other locations.
Objective
To interconnect the networks of Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea for exchange of power among these countries and beyond.
Project Status
This project is in its implementation phase and financing of US$ 529.48 million equivalent has been completely secured following adoption of pre-investment studies that were funded by EU-A ITF and WB. The entire project is being implemented by a single Project Management Unit under a Special Purpose Company that was created solely for the implementation and operation of the project. An Owners’ Engineer is providing oversight support to the PMU for the project implementation. The construction works are well advanced and significant parts of the line have already been energized. The commissioning of the project is envisaged to be completed in 2022.
